According to al-Shuruq website, the conference on “Role of Quranic Schools in Preserving National Identity” was held in the North African country last week.
Speakers at the closing ceremony stressed the need for improvements in methods of teaching in Quranic schools based on new achievements.
They also urged that a national supreme council of Quran should be established to raise the level of Quranic schools, among other things.
They further called for support for Quranic teachers and equipping them with the knowledge necessary to counter wrong ideologies spread in the name of Islam.
Coordination among Quranic schools all over Algeria for using each other’s experiences and integrating the schools’ curricula were among other issued stressed by those addressing the closing ceremony.
Algeria is a country in North Africa on the Mediterranean coast.
Muslims make up about ninety-nine percent of the Arab country’s population.
